The rules shaping how AI can be used in regulated European industries are being written now – in data spaces, sector standards and the frameworks forming around the AI Act.
For organisations in biopharma, medtech, manufacturing and insurance, that work will help define the conditions they work within.
A key forum for that work is the BDVA - Big Data Value Association – an industry-led partnership of 250+ members that helps shape Europe's data and AI agenda, policy work, research priorities and funding programmes.
On Tuesday, its General Assembly approved Brightbeam as a full member – one of two full members approved in this round, and the only Irish organisation among them.
Membership gives us a seat at the table, a vote, eligibility for the Board of Directors, and a route into the task forces where standards, research priorities and European projects are developed.
Leading our work with BDVA is Dr Arsalan Shahid, a Principal Solutions Director at Brightbeam.
'BDVA is one of the few places where industry, research and European policy come together. Its task forces align closely with Brightbeam's research and strategic priorities, and full membership puts us in the conversations where the partnerships, consortia and standards work behind serious AI adoption are shaped.' – Dr Arsalan Shahid
